GCSE

Students may be with us at Meadowbrook on a full-time or part-time basis.  All students on full-time timetables study a Core curriculum which is supplemented by Vocational and Technical learning.  Part-time students can come to us to study a 'Core' or Vocational curriculum.  Part-time students will also be attending their mainstream school or other providers.  All students on these programmes follow an individualised programme which is put together with them depending on their strengths and needs:

All students who attend the college have a Key worker/Tutor who will support them during their time with us and be involved in all aspects of their education.

The main aim for students in all our Key stage 4 programmes, is to enable them to develop the knowledge and skills to be able to successfully move into the world of work, training or further education, fulfilling their potential to be a fully contributing member of the community.

Curriculum

Students are taught individually and/or in small groups and the curriculum offered gives students the opportunity to:

  • Gain core qualifications in Maths, English, PSD (including Workskills)
  • Choose from a variety of additional qualification options including Art, Science, Sports Science
  • Full-time students also choose two options at least from the Vocational Curriculum offer
  • Take part in sporting and creative activities both within and beyond the curriculum
  • Have the opportunity to have long-term Work Experience placement in a field of their choice

As with all students on Key stage 4 programmes, an Individual Learning Plan is in place which is regularly reviewed with parents and carers. Students have access to different agency support such as Connexions, Adviza and the School Nurse as well as an Art Therapist.  Students are also often supported by other professionals already working with the young person and family when they join us at Meadowbrook College.
