This programme is for students who have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
Next Step is a therapeutic and educational intervention which provides a bespoke programme for pupils who, because of their complex and extreme behavioural, emotional and social needs, are not currently able to benefit from a special school or Meadowbrook College placement. Students may remain on their school roll or come onto Meadowbrook College roll.
This intervention is for children and young people from the age of 5 to 16 years old.
Next Steps is a joint initiative between Meadowbrook College and SENSS (Special Educational Needs Support Service). It is a multi-agency approach which includes other professionals already working with the young person to create a coherent and co-ordinated package of support.
Each young person has a Key Worker. Provision is individual, flexible and one-to-one for up to 25 hours. The provision is based on what the pupil needs and where they are emotionally.
Pupils can work with other children or young people, but only when they are ready and feel confident to do so.
